           MONTHLY MEETINGS: 
Our general monthly meetings are held on the third Wednesday of 
every month, with the exception of July and December.  The time 
of day varies throughout the year in an effort to accommodate 
different schedules.

Monthly Gathering

October 15th-Brideshead Revisited! This is our monthly gathering and we will be reviewing and comparing the book and film.  Two very different mediums!  Lunch will follow. 

Feel free to join us at this meetings and see what the club is all about.

                ONGOING ACTIVITIES: 
There are many ongoing activities that occur daily, weekly, 
monthly or bi-monthly. Browse through each activity group 
for more information about the different activities we have in 
our club.  We are always open to adding new activities if there 
is enough interest on the part of our members.

                          GAMES    

Daytime Canasta

       The first Tuesday of each month from 11:30AM to 2:00PM.  Locations will 
        vary.  Bring your own lunch and drink, if you want.

Gal's Game Night

A variety of games will be offered from Canasta to BUNCO to Poker.
The Group meets the 3rd Tuesday of the month at the Park Newport
Clubhouse.  Joining the Gal's Game Night activity is a great way to
get to know the other members of Newcomers.

Game Day (an Encore activity - Newcomers are invited)

The game day group meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month 
at the Newport Beach Tennis Club at 10AM.  They play until noon 
and then enjoy lunch at the club.  Games will vary from Canasta
to Poker.

BUNCO (an Encore activity - Newcomers are invited)

The BUNCO group meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month 
at the Newport Beach Tennis Club.  They begin at noon an then they 
play afterwards.

Lunch Bunch 

The Lunch Bunch meets the 2nd Friday of each month to 
introduce members to local restaurants and to each other.

Monthly Happy Hour

Tired of spending loads of money on mediocre meals and expensive drinks
and wines?  Do you know the best local places to go for half price drinks or 
free appetizers? Join us monthly... dates and times to change, but typically 
during the week on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays for our Happy Hour 
event at local establishments from 5-7 pm.  Feel free to invite your spouses, 
boyfriends, significant others.  No limit on guests, the more the merrier.

Evening Socials- Guess Who's Coming to Dinner 

This is a dinner group that includes members as well as spouses or 
companions.  They dine in groups of 8 or 10 at member's 
homes and everyone is responsible for preparing part of 
the meal.  The meal usually centers around a theme and 
all recipes are supplied.  There is a minimal charge for this 
event which goes toward the purchase of the meat/fish.  

Menu Madness 

This group meets once a month on the last Tuesday at 5-6:45 pm to share recipe 
and entertaining tips,  get easy menu ideas, and learn how to prepare 
the foods through demos from our own newcomer group.  Sample wine 
and appetizers as you share and learn.  Participants must be willing to 
share their kitchen for a meeting.

Book Club 

The book club meets the 2nd Monday of each month  in 
the late afternoon to discuss their chosen book selection.

Crafty Ladies                       

Once a month on the 1st Wednesday, this group meets to learn
a new craft or just work on a project you have started while you
socialize with other members.

    Movie Madness  

Once a month on the 1st Tuesday this group meets at a local 
theater for a late afternoon movie and then dinner afterwards 
at a local restaurant.  This is a joint activity with our Encore members.

Step 'n Out

This group attends a variety of theater and other cultural 
events around the area.  Activities have included the Pageant 
of the Masters, plays at local  Orange County playhouses as 
well as theaters in Los Angeles.  They also take day trips to 
visit museums, outlet shopping and other interesting venues. 

 

Garden Tours  

In addition to the above, this group's activities range from garden 
and house tours, to gardening and  crafts.  The day and time of their
activities vary from month to month.

(The Bridge Groups are run by Encore, but are open to both Newcomer
and Encore members)

Ladies Bridge

This group meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 10AM.  
There is a no host lunch at noon and play continues until 
2:30-3:00PM

Ladies Duplicate Bridge

This group meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 10AM.  
There is a no host lunch and play continues until 2:30-3:00PM.

Ladies Marathon Bridge

Couples Bridge

This group meets the 1st Saturday of the month at 6PM.  
Players bring a pot luck dish or drinks to share. 

Couples Duplicate Bridge

This group meets on the 3rd Sunday of the month at 3PM in 
each other's homes.  They play cards first, followed by a light 
supper provided by the host.

Couples Marathon Bridge

Between September and May each couple plays 7 or 8 matches.  
Dates are the decision of the couples playing the match.  At 
the end of the year there is a party for the entire group with 
prizes awarded.

                SPORTS

Golf 

We currently have a 9 hole golf group that plays every 
Monday and Wednesday around 10:00 AM at the Newport Beach Golf Course.  

Walking 

The walking group walks around Balboa Island on Monday 
through Thursday afternoons at 4:00PM (4:30 PM in the summertime.) 
This brisk walk includes both the big and little Balboa islands and dogs 
are welcome to come along!
